This dachshund stuffed animal is sitting in a hot dog bun, which is the entire joke and it lands every time. It is the gift you can hand over without explaining, and the one that gets photographed on the table before anybody opens anything else.

It has an unusually wide audience for a novelty plush. Dachshund owners buy it for each other, doxie obsessed kids ask for it by name, and it doubles as a centerpiece or a favor at a cookout, a backyard barbecue, or a hot dog themed birthday. As food plush goes, this one has the advantage of also being a legitimate dog stuffed animal, so it does not stop working the day the theme is over.

Set it alongside the rest of our plush toys and stuffed animals if you are building a food themed shelf, or give it on its own as the funniest thing in the pile. It is a reliable choice for the person who already owns every sensible puppy stuffed animal on the market.

How do you wrap a stuffed animal? The common approach is a gift bag with tissue, since plush compresses unevenly and boxed wrapping tends to distort the shape. If a box is used, wrapping the toy loosely in tissue first keeps embroidered features from being crushed against the paper.
