Costume boxes should all contain a black derby; it covers barbershop quartets, silent film villains, and about half of the 1920s. The vel-felt fabric finish looks far more convincing than shiny molded plastic, and one size fits most adult heads.

Sold by the package (1 derby) or by the case (12 derbys); theater departments and costume closets tend to go straight for the case.
