A paper chain kit with ninety-six double-sided strips in red and green plaid, with adhesive already applied. Linked together they make roughly twenty feet of chain.

Plaid keeps this one from reading as a school craft once it is up. Run it along a mantel, down a bannister, or around a tree instead of tinsel and it holds its own next to proper decorations, which is not true of most construction paper chains. No glue, no tape, and no drying time, so a child can make the whole twenty feet in one sitting.
